poet and filmmaker
Saif Al-Saegh is a United States-based poet and filmmaker from Baghdad. He is the author of the poetry collection entitled Iraqi Headaches (Nouveau Nostalgia, 2013). Al-Saegh writes in English and Arabic and his poetry and short experimental films have been published and screened across the United States and Europe. He is now pursuing his MFA in Media Arts at the University of Montana.
Al-Saegh will use some of his own short films or poems to illuminate how he has processed his experiences through art. The presentation will include some of his personal background, some political, historical, and contemporary knowledge of Iraq, and Al-Saegh’s arts and humanities expertise.
